The French and Francophone Club has been communicating with other schools around the country and in France. L’école “Le Rocher des Lutins” of Noirmoutier (France) had sent a message in September 2015 explaining that they wished to receive post cards from all over the globe as part of a project they were doing on World's diversity. Canyon students in French classes signed post cards with words of encouragement for their new friends abroad. Our correspondents were very grateful . They sent us drawings to say “merci!”
Mission for Haiti 2016: Our francophone students, as well as teachers and staff of Canyon HS, also have been helping the francophone community of Haiti by recycling used glasses. Doctors and Optometrists ( Dr. Paul Halpern, Dr. Mc Phillips and Dr. Markoczy) are taking part of a humanitarian mission lead by VOSH PA ( Volunteers in Optometric Service of PA) to bring these glasses to Ponte Sonde in Haiti. There, these reading glasses ( "lunettes") will be fitted to the vision of somebody who could not afford to buy a pair of eye glasses. Our Comanches are proud of making a difference in the world and expanding our horizon.
